Max has lived in Newark all his life and within Devon Ward for over 40 years. The Ward is well known to him - his parents and grandparents lived within it in excess of 60 years and his wife, and her family, is from the area.  He has always given time to, and supported, the local community - he currently serves on two charities helping disadvantaged school children and adults. 

Max has served on Newark Town and District Council for a number of years representing what is now a large part of Devon Ward following boundary changes. He is proud of his record during his time here
