POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Newark Conservative Association AGM
As you are no doubt aware the latest advice from the Government is that all social gatherings should be avoided, if at all possible, and certainly by people over the age of 70. That age range is well represented in our Association and so it would be extremely foolhardy to go ahead with an AGM when a significant number of our members are being advised not to attend.
We have been advised by CCHQ that Associations may postpone AGMs as late as 30th June 2020. I would hope we could reinstate the meeting before then. Naturally, Accounts must be lodged with the appropriate authority, whether or not approved by an AGM, by 30th April 2020.
I do regret having to take this course of action, but feel an example needs to set. I ought to tell you that we are not alone in making this decision, as at the time of writing at least three other Nottinghamshire Associations have already postponed their AGMs.
Thank you for your understanding.
Kind regards
Tony Roberts, MBE
